Zagi THL
|
The
new lighter Zagi-THL or (Zagi-Lite) features a resilient expanded
polypropylene (EPP) foam leading edge laminated to a rugged 1 pound
white foam core and covered with 2.4 mil. poly-tape. This combat proven
building technique provides light weight durability and a low price.
The new ZAGI-THL has the Original Zagi-LE's low drag profile. Flying
weight is only 11.5 ounces providing a loading of only 4 oz/sq.ft.
The prototype is equipped with a standard size 7 channel receiver,
two micro servos, a separate electronic mixer, and a 110 or 270 mAh
battery. Another prototype equiped with a 270 mAh battery wasn't much
more. Without nose weight it balances at 8". With a four channel
RX and without the separate electronic mixer it should weigh in under
11 ounces. One was reported built to 10 1/2 ounces! The
Zagi-THL flies well in light slope lift at 5 mph and penetrates in
winds to 25 mph. It will high start. The ZAGI-THL is not a combat
or bungie launch airplane. The design objectives were to make a rugged
low cost, light weight wing for thermal and hand launch. The performance
envelope includes hand launch, high start, and light slope lift.

Zagi XS |
New
Zagi XS
The Zagi XS is an electric powered airplane,
not a glider with a motor. The design of the new XS is the culmination
of three factors;
feedback, research and experience. Emails and conversations with
Zagi flyers everywhere had the greatest influence on the shape
of the new design. Most suggestions were to get the battery bay
further back from the nose and make it to fit other battery configurations.
Research into the application of the Zagi 400X revealed that most
flyers fly the Zagi as a power airplane. Full power for the full
flight. So the Zagi XS is a power on airplane. Not a powered glider.
New low drag airfoil is just a fraction less than symmetrical.
Low profile vented hatch cools high performance batteries and ESC.
Even more rugged with the molded styrene parts set back from the
nose. Four full span flat carbon spars and airfoil shaped elevons
make the new Zagi XS unflappable, even at brushless motor speeds
! Same price as the Zagi 400 X.

Zagi XT |
New
Zagi XT
This is an airplane designed for intermediate to expert flyers.
Radar clocked in level flight at 70 mph. Dive speeds up to 100
mph, definitely not for beginners.
The Zagi XT is an all new twin motor flying wing. Every part of the new Twin
has been redesigned, from the new Zagi Pusher motor formula to the airfoil shaped
elevons.
The wing is
a new faster airfoil wire-cut from all EPP foam reinforced with
four flat pre-preg carbon fiber spars and one light plywood spar.
The combined
effect of the new spar system is spanwise stiffness while providing impact
flexibility. Constant width airfoil shaped elevons provide positive
control and eliminate
flutter. The five spar channels are precisely precut to require a minimum
amount of glue. The servo bays and the scalloped motor cutout
are die cut. The scalloped
trailing edge of the motor cutout is to reduce drag and motor noise by extending
the props farther aft.
